RAI had represented to the government of Maharashtra requesting them to allow retailers to maintain labour registers in an electronic format. We had proposed that the Government allow these registers to be maintained in a soft-copy format, which will facilitate retailers in complying with the provisions in an accurate and an environment-friendly manner.

As a result of representations from the Retailers Association of India, the Government of Maharashtra makes a significant allowance for retailers that is in the interest of both, the business as well as consumers

The Government of Maharashtra has issued a notification exempting retail establishments in the state from weekly closure as mandated by the Shops and Establishments Act.

Under Section 328 and 328 A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888 - Permission of the Commissioner is required for display of advertisement hoardings by means of surface or structure erected on ground or any portion of a roof of a building or on/above the parapet, with characters, letters or illustrations applied thereto and displayed in any manner along with payment of prescribed fees.
