Senco Gold & Diamonds has partnered with Olocker, India's first dedicated jewellery insurance platform, to offer customers free jewellery insurance on qualifying purchases, covering snatching, robbery and housebreaking. The tie-up was announced in Mumbai on September 4.
The insurance addresses a common practice among Indian jewellery buyers: locking pieces away in bank lockers rather than wearing them, out of fear of theft during travel or a break-in at home. Under the partnership, Olocker supplies the insurance and asset-tracking infrastructure, while Senco, which has operated since 1938, extends the cover to its customers at no extra cost.
"Jewellery is never just metal and stone," said Suvankar Sen, Managing Director of Senco Gold & Diamonds. "When customers can't step out wearing it, or can't leave home without worrying about a break-in, something is broken in that experience. We wanted to fix that."
Milind Shethia, Founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Olocker, called the partnership "one of the most exciting collaborations" the platform has been part of, adding that aligning with an established name like Senco extends its core mission, encouraging people to wear their jewellery rather than store it away, to millions of customers at once.
The insurance is available on qualifying purchases from launch.
